Pre-Nursery (Age 2 - 3): Foster children's independency and develop self-care competence
Every child is unique, hence no one single class fits all kids. When going through the transition from being well taken care of by family to having to stay alone in a new environment, children usually feel anxious and worried. Therefore, our pre-nursery class places great emphasis on providing a caring, home-like and safe environment, so as to facilitate the kids to learn to be independent. The class also helps build up the children's early sensory development; language and social development; how to get along with peers; as well as enhance their self-care competence and other life skills.
K1 (Age 3 - 4): Further advance the children's social skills, sensory and emotional development
Children of age 3 – 4 are relatively self-centred. They love to cry and laugh, and are easily influenced by the surrounding environment. Our class helps the students to adapt to the community through school life; and learn about following rules and cooperation through group activities, in order to build up their good sense of being a team member and know how to express themselves. An array of sensory games will strengthen the children's sensory development, enhance their motor skills and coordination between hands and eyes, so as to help them explore the world outside.
K2 (Age 4 - 5): Develop the sense of responsibility, stimulate imagination and creativity, facilitate self-initiated learning
Kids of age 4 -5 are energetic and full of imagination. They are confident of what they can do and willing to try new things. In our curriculum, we aim to further develop the children's imagination and creativity through different activities; let them display their potential and express their views; and also to enhance their organization power and guide them to learn about respect and acceptance. The kids will also develop the sense of responsibility through the school life, learning, and games.
K3 (Age 5 - 6): An integration of questioning, exploration and experience
Kids of age 5 – 6 love to ask questions. They try to understand the world and themselves through questioning. In our K3 class, teachers and students will be partners, i.e. they will respect each other and kids are allowed to have different answers. We support the children to build their own environment, to share life experience, and to express feelings. Teachers will provide different scenarios and encourage the children to think through the issues from different angles in trying to find the answers. More discussions will be employed to guide the kids to think actively, in order to enhance their problem solving ability. We will also work together with the parents in planning for the transition to primary one, hoping to ensure good adaption of the children in advancing their learning.
